Former Trump Aides Consider Suing Him To Cover Their Legal Bills

According to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, a group of former Trump aides and other associates are considering suing the former President to cover their legal bills. These individuals are using legal representation as they face subpoenas and inquiries from the Select Committee, and they aren't as well-off as Trump is, so paying the bills for working for him is becoming increasingly difficult. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

According to New York times, reporter Maggie Haberman, who was neck deep in the Trump administration for four years. She was the reporter on the ground, exposing everything in that Trump administration. According to her this week, there is a group of former Trump aids and other associates who are considering suing the former president in order to get him to pay their mounting legal bills. So here's the backstory on this. What we have is a bunch of Trump aids associates, you know, people that were close to him that of course have had their materials were requested by the January 6th committee. And even if these individuals choose to fully comply, they're not fighting it. They're not suing, they're not doing any of that. They still need legal representation. You know, that's a given you don't wanna put yourself in any kind of position where you accidentally incriminate at yourself, where you, you know, are, are, are basically having your legal rights trampled on these people do need legal representation.

And I fully support that and hope that they get proper legal, uh, representation problem is a lot of these folks are just aids. They were white house a, I mean, we're not talking about people may in the big bucks, you know, the hundred, hundred 50, $200,000 a year salaries, we're, we're talking about people that were making just average, middle class income to hire an attorney to represent you in these matters, which again, you gotta get a good one and that's gonna be very expensive. These people simply don't have the means to do that. But Donald Trump does. So even though they have not officially filed suit yet, according to Haberman with the New York times, this is what they're talking about amongst themselves. Like maybe, maybe we have a class action. Maybe we can do something because we wouldn't be in this position. Had it not been for our employment under Donald Trump, he should be responsible for this.

He's the reason we have to have representation. He should have to pay for it as much as I would like that legal argument to work. I don't know that it will. Um, you might, after the fact be able to recoup some of those costs, probably not though, as this is not a civil matter at the moment. So it's really difficult to go back and try to Sue for lawyer fees. Uh, in this particular instance, it, it's not impossible, but it's close to it. So, unfortunately again, I, I don't know that these people truly do have a case. They should. I think they absolutely should, but it would be exceptionally difficult for them to prove this. And if they're waiting on Donald Trump to act of his own volition, to give them their legal fees yeah. That ain't ever gonna happen. Last we had heard, and maybe this has changed, but I haven't seen anything indicating it's changed.

He didn't even pay Rudy Giuliani for his legal services. And then Giuliani came knocking as the investigations into him, up in New York, which for the record are still going on. Uh, he wanted Trump to pay his legal fees and Trump just stopped answering his phone calls altogether. Like Trump wouldn't even talk to him cuz he knew he was asking for money. Meanwhile, Trump himself facing all kinds of legal problems again in New York and he doesn't have to pay his own legal fees cuz you got the NC paying for those. So Trump's making off like abandoned, right? I don't have to pay legal fees. Hell I don't even have to pay my former lawyer. I'm sure not paying the legal fees of these former associates. So I hope that they can find a good lawyer to take up this lawsuit for them. And I hope that they can finally force him to pay their legal fees because again, none of them would be in this where they even had to hire a lawyer, had it not been for the fact that they worked for him. And now everybody that worked for him is coming under scrutiny by that select committee. He did this to them and I firmly believe he should have to pay the price. I just don't have faith that the USTA system is gonna make him do that.
