AYAM HUTAN HIJAU (GALLUS VARIUS)

Ayam hutan hijau (Latin: Gallus varius) adalah nama sejenis burung yang termasuk kelompok unggas dari suku Phasianidae, yakni keluarga ayam, puyuh, merak, dan sempidan. Ayam hutan diyakini sebagai nenek moyang sebagian ayam peliharaan yang ada di Nusantara. Ayam ini disebut dengan berbagai nama di berbagai tempat, seperti canghegar atau cangehgar (Sd.), ayam alas (Jw.), ajem allas atau tarattah (Md.).

Memiliki nama ilmiah Gallus varius (Shaw, 1798), ayam ini dalam bahasa Inggris dikenal sebagai Green Junglefowl, Javan Junglefowl, Forktail, atau Green Javanese Junglefowl, merujuk pada warna dan asal tempatnya.

GREEN JUNGLE FOWL

Green jungle fowl (Latin: Gallus varius) is the name of a type of bird that belongs to the poultry group of the Phasianidae tribe, namely the chicken, quail, peacock, and pheasant family. Jungle fowl are believed to be the ancestors of some of the domesticated chickens in the archipelago. This chicken is called by various names in various places, such as canghegar or cangehgar (Sd.), ayam alas (Jw.), ajem allas or tarattah (Md.). Having the scientific name Gallus varius (Shaw, 1798), this chicken is known in English as Green Junglefowl, Javan Junglefowl, Forktail, or Green Javanese Junglefowl, referring to the color and origin of the place.
