Ships and submarines of the Russian Navy started to leave the Novorossiysk base.
Ships of the Russian Navy left the port of Novorossiysk yesterday due to a threat from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russia removed the largest amphibious ship of the Black Sea Fleet "Pyotr Morgunov" as well as three Improved-Kilo class submarines from the port. According to confirmed sources, only a few military and support boats remained in the area.
After the Kerch bridge disaster, the "Pyotr Morgunov" was meant to bring military supplies from Russia to Sevastopol. Despite Russia's efforts to rebuild the bridge, the bridge's carrying capacity remains restricted. As a result, the Russian fleet's amphibious ships serve as cargo ships. The simultaneous retreat of submarines, however, implies that this is far from a "resupply operation."
The mass "escape" of the ships could be a test of the preparedness of the crews, as well as a preventive step due to the danger posed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
