Different questions are being raised by fans and followers of Dr John Watts are flooding his series of hugely popular educational videos with queries related to hair transplants and hair growth issues.
In this educational video, noted dermatologist & trichologist and one of the Best Hair Transplant Surgeons in Hyderabad Dr John Watts answers select shortlisted questions of viewers related to hair growth, hair hall and hair transplant.
Ramana Roy asks: “If I wear hair fibre to attend functions, is there a possibility that the hair may slip off or fall? Can we make them stay glued together?
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Ramana Roy that to keep the hair fibre glued one needs the support of baby hair. “If there is baby hair on the scalp, there is a better chance that the hair fibre may not slip off or scatter or fall off as they easily stay glued to them,” he said.
When hair fibre is used, it leads to the formation of a thin dark layer on the scalp that does not let the light rays reflect on it. “The light rays scatter when they hit on this layer. Thus, your baldness is not reflected prominently,” he informed.
However, Dr John told Ramana that if there is excessive sweating or if one moves the head vigorously, it may dislodge the hair fibre and they may slip off. “For this purpose, one can use ‘Stay on’ sprays available in the market that keep the hair fibre intact in its place.”
Haripriya Sai asks: “I have been living in the United States of America in Denver’s Mountain region. I am facing hair loss and have tried home remedies like flax seeds and fenugreek oil but it is not working.
Do I need any medication?
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Haripriya that location change can play a role in hair loss. She tells Haripriya that the first thing she needs to undertake is a basic test. “Find out your haemoglobin, Vitamin D, and B 12 levels first. It is also necessary to introspect on your sleep pattern and food habits,” he informed.
Based on the test reports, he tells Haripriya that a biotin supplement or B 12, or Vitamin D supplement can be prescribed or suggested use of Minoxidil by the medical expert in her case.
Harikrishna G asks: “I have been using Minoxidil but I noticed hair fall while using it. What should I do?”
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Harikrishna that it is natural to witness hair fall initially after using Minoxidil. “This happens due to reperfusion injury but hair growth will resume after 2-4 months. There is nothing to worry about. Have patience,” he advised.
Chitti Dolly asks: “How do I mix Minoxidil and Finasteride syrup combination?”
In his response, Dr John Watts tells Chitti that they are not syrup and not meant for consumption but to be used as a topical application.
“The Minoxidil-Finasteride combination is readily available in the market for topical application. You don’t have to mix it yourself. Take your doctor’s advice before you use them,” he advised.
