100 BILLION GALLONS OF RAIN: 🌊🌞🌊
El Yunque receives over 100 BILLION gallons of fresh and pure rain each year - that is 200 inches in the regions in these images.
It also feeds with water 30% of the Island 3M people.
This results in an immense level of EROSION.
El Yunque, El Cacique, East peak and El Toro - the 4 peaks:
In fact only 4 large ranges of peaks have survived this humid attack since they are hardened volcanic crystallized magma, the same technique used for jet engines' inner parts.
These peaks are El Yunque, El Cacique, East peak and El Toro - an excellent open 3 hr trail if you want some REAL adventure in El Yunque.. but i warn you - there will be MUDDDD.

SOME CLOUD PHYSICS EXPLAINS THE SECRET OF EL YUNQUE:🌞
The wind comes from the Saharan dry and hot, crosses the Atlantic 2000 miles to PR, and then is called the Trade winds. Now the secret sauce: As the wind travels it collects SALT CRYSTALS and these, in turn, will act as a basis for the formation of rain - when it reaches El Yunque!
When it reaches the 3,000 tall peaks (we have a short time-lapse of these clouds too in the video) it is converted to fog and rain.
Biologists call it HORIZONTAL RAIN - the abundance of MOSS acts like a condenser and converts fog direct to drops and these fall into the ground like rain. They estimate over 20% of the water in EYNF is from this process.
