We have been informed about allegations of sexual assault surrounding a GBB21 artist. We are waiting on legal actions to be taken, and are currently in contact and supporting the victim. We do not tolerate any form of sexual assault or harassment of any kind at any of our events, or in the wider community.
We started swissbeatbox and GBB to bring people together to enjoy the art-form of human beatboxing, to create a space for people to come together from all walks of life to enjoy this unique art-from. Our values and the values of the beatbox community have always been that of family, friendship, and respect, as well as freedom of speech, love, and artistic expression - to create the safe space for artists to make a career and a living from this art-form.
Any kind of harassment or abuse is unacceptable in our community.
We understand that there have been some ongoing issues, such as harassment, abuse, and bullying, and we believe that more could have been done to stop some of these issues from escalating.
Unfortunately, these allegations have now occurred at one of our events, and we will now be taking severe measures to avoid this from ever happening again.
We want to personally apologise for the fact that we did not implement more safety measures at our event, such as a hotline, announcements, or contact personnel.
If we are going to continue with the grand beatbox battle and swissbeatbox, we must do everything in our power in order to make sure that everybody will feel safe at our events.
We will provide the necessary staff of professionals at all future events that can handle these matters, to ensure a non-bias, safe environment. We will also create an easily accessible way to contact the necessary authorities or professionals to avoid these situations (for example a hotline or contact number).
As this is an extremely sensitive matter, we will be talking with external experts on how to better provide safety at all our future events, and will keep the community updated about all coming developments in this area.
Regarding the current situation, until legal action has been taken, and the legal process happens, we will be removing all videos containing this particular artist, and banning them from all future events.
We want to make one thing clear - we do not tolerate harassment of any kind within our community, whether that be sexual or other.
If you are found to be someone who is harassing, assaulting, or otherwise abusing anyone in our community, you will be permanently banned from all of our events, and any related media associated with the perpetrators will be taken down from our platforms.
Furthermore, the necessary authorities will be contacted in regards to each case, and they will be punished to the full extent of the law.
Right now we are working towards creating some form of professional anonymous contact line as quickly as possible for victims of abuse and harassment.
Until further notice, we will be taking a break from posting our regular content to focus on fixing these issues within our community. Please give us the time that we need to set in place the right standards and procedures to help victims of abuse in our community seek the right help and support.
Our biggest priority right now is to make people feel safe and accepted within our community.
