Afghanistan sees return to the ‘bad old days’ of the Taliban

Gap Legal Services’ Director Glenn Kolomeitz says Afghanistan is experiencing a return to the “bad old days of the Taliban”.

Mr Kolomeitz, a former army officer, said the new Taliban regime was the “same old Taliban”, despite the militant group insisting they had reformed since their tyrannical rule from the late 90s until 2001.

“We’re hearing first-hand from some of the families we’ve helped escape … telling us about their family members being dragged out of their homes and shot in front of their houses.

“I don’t think it’s that surprising to be honest.”
