Muḥarram, one of the Sacred Months in Islām, brings with it the days of particular significance: the 9th and 10 of Muḥarram. While the Prophet ﷺ initially commanded the faithful to fast this day in commemoration of God saving Moses and the Israelites and drowning Pharaoh's army, he stated that, God willing, "next year we'll fast the nine and tenth". Why? And what's significant about that for those of us living today in the age of identitarian politics?
