Former Speaker of the House Bronwyn Bishop says Prime Minister Scott Morrison lost power to the country’s premiers when he “let the genie out the bottle” by forming National Cabinet.
“What we’ve seen is that the prime minster is seen to have lost power,” she told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.
“He let the genie out the bottle when he let those premiers into the so-called national cabinet.”
Ms Bishop urged the prime minister to use the power he has under the Constitution to end the current political bickering.
“There is a need for the prime minister to say he’s got to take charge, he’s got an election coming up in March and those Labor premiers, they will get up on him like there’s no tomorrow,” she said.
