Insecurity & Food Crisis In NG: Govt Must Strengthen Security For Farmers & Herders |THE ADVOCATE NG

Welcome to the Advocate On PlusTV Africa where a panel of 'passionate for change' individuals discuss thought-provoking topics in an atmosphere of seriousness, decisiveness, and laughter. Here, we call a spade a spade. And Like we say here, no holds barred.

One of the cardinal campaign objectives of the Buhari-led government is tackling insecurity. However, despite claims by federal authorities of increased security measures, an atmosphere of insecurity lingers. Rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, herdsmen clashes (open grazing becoming a hot debatable issue) abound with huge amounts of ransom been paid; this is excluding PTSD suffered by victims (according to opposition, there is a huge value chain of opportunities explored by beneficiaries of the rot in the system). According to a Premium Times report, a total of N4.62trillion has been allocated to the federal security sector in the past five years despite claims by Nigerian security forces that they are being underfunded.
