The Imperial officers first viewed Vader as a simple brute, offering him little respect. In retaliation Vader killed a few of these officers, displeasing Palpatine who told him he did not wish to rule over a galaxy of dead men. The Imperials continued to treat Vader with disrespect and eventually he discovered that some high ranking officers had attempted to assassinate him. With Palpatines blessing, Vader sought to teach the imperial officers a lesson. The emperor called a meeting, explaining that any order from Vader should be treated as an order directly from himself. Vader then stepped forward explaining how some unknown officials had tried to kill him. He then called forth 5 random officers, force choking them to death. This show of force shocked the imperial officers, instilling a deep fear of the dark lord and few ever questioned him again.
