Conservatives Feel Unwelcome In Therapy (Politics & Mental Health)

The culture war has conservatives opting out of psychological treatment because they feel unwelcome by most therapists.

It is no secret that the mental health world is strongly liberal. I experienced it first hand starting with my graduate studies, and at every stage of my employment afterwards. This lack of ideological diversity is making conservatives hesitant to reach out to a therapist and start psychotherapy because they fear that the therapist will try to indoctrinate them, convince them of their white privilege, induce white guilt, and/or discourage their religious and family values. The end result is that conservatives are left to struggle with their mental health issues all on their own.
