China will keep providing necessary assistance and support to Myanmar in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.
A new batch of China's Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine and anti-pandemic materials arrived in Myanmar's Yangon on Thursday.
The Myanmar side thanked China for donating anti-pandemic materials and sending medical experts to assist Myanmar in combating the deadly virus.
"The COVID-19 pandemic is the common enemy of all mankind, and the international community should unite in the fight against it. China, as a friendly neighbor of Myanmar and a responsible major country, will as always provide to Myanmar people the assistance and support they need, including vaccines, in their fight against the pandemic," said Zhao.
Myanmar reported 4,998 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the tally in the country to 269,525 on Sunday, according to a release from its Ministry of Health and Sports.
The death toll reached 7,111 after 355 more fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours, the release said on Sunday.
